A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

Build Your Own Dungeon

Build it. Explore it. Survive what you dealt yourself.

52rds is a card-driven roguelike dungeon crawler built around a single deck of 52 rooms.

Each turn, draw a hand, choose a card, and add it to the dungeon. Its shape determines where it can connect. Its suit determines what kind of room you have created.

  • ♥️ life, healing, allies and people
  • ♦️ treasure, mechanisms, traps and resources
  • ♣️ monsters, combat and physical danger
  • ♠️ death, magic, curses and environmental threats

The suit of an adjacent room mutates the content of the room most recently placed. Learn the patterns and play as strategically as you like, but try to avoid making the dungeon unstable or it might collapse!

Explore the dungeon in real time, fight monsters, bargain with strangers, break curses, loot what you can, and eventually find a way out of the maze you constructed.

You will unlock modifiers, risks, and options that affect the dungeon and gameplay as you progress.

Very interesting and unique gameplay mechanic for a game.

Hey. Thanks for stopping in to leave a comment. I appreciate it. I’m glad you enjoyed the mechanics. The game is mostly done from a mechanical perspective. So the next big release should be content expansion. There are 52 cards, but only 16 common encounters, for example. So you could, theoretically, build the same room 11 times. I also want to make magic more useful.

So, yeah, not massive changes incoming, but if I can get enough feedback, hopefully a more interesting game eventually.
